Friends of the Library Award

Friends of the Library of the Allendale and Upper Saddle River public libraries offer the opportunity to compete for the Friends of the Library Scholarship Award.

All seniors enrolled at Northern Highlands Regional High School are eligible for this $1,500 award. Candidates submit an essay on how libraries have shaped their lives. Northern Highlands faculty members judge the essays and select the winner. Applications for consideration are available at the high school guidance office each January.

The winner of the award writes an essay of 500-1000 words answering the questions:

  • How have public or school libraries shaped your life?
  • How did the books, materials, programs, environments, or people you discovered there make you into the person you are today and influence who you will become?
