Children’s Summer Reading Program
June 16th–August 31st
Upper Saddle River children entering pre-K–grade 5 in the fall are invited to join the annual Summer Reading program!
Earn awesome goodies like weekly prizes, a lawn sign, and a chance to win a grand prize gift basket—by reading (or being read to) for 2 hours per week! All reading counts, so read what you love and reap the rewards! Enjoy fun family events, get creative with craft kits, go on a storywalk, and much more.
Pre-register starting June 1st; participate June 16th–August 31st. The program is limited to Upper Saddle River Library cardholders. Please contact erin.douglass@uppersaddleriver.bccls.org with any questions.
Reading Program
Read 2 hours per week to earn prizes!
All reading counts as long as it’s at your level, so read whatever you want! For every week that you read and log 2 hours, you will earn a fun prize.
Log your reading on ReaderZone.
- Sign up on the Reader Zone app or ReaderZone.com.
- Add readers. Click add someone else as a reader to add your child(ren).
- Enter the program code 7476D when prompted.
- Select Children for the reading group.
- Make reading entries to meet the goal of 2 hours weekly. You can even add past entries.
- You’ll receive an email when prizes are ready for pickup.
A Superstar Summer Reader Lives Here! The first 50 kids to log 2 complete weeks of reading will get a special lawn sign to display proudly. Limited to one sign per household.
Complete all 11 weeks of reading and you could win a gift basket chock full of goodies! Your completion of the program will enter you in the grand prize raffle.

- Online registration is required. Registration opens 2 weeks before each program, except where noted.

No registration is required for these activities. Participate by simply visiting the library.
Summer StoryWalk
Follow the signs outside of the library down the trail to the river, enjoying the picture book step by step.
Reading Lists
